Best Cat and Dog Toys Ever!

I’m always looking for stuff to make.  It’s easy for me to get lost in do-it-yourself videos, losing track of time, even staying up to all hours  devouring the ideas.  Watching creativity sparks my own.  Usually after a late night from surfing the Web,  I spend the next morning  creating something.  Sometimes I have a good laugh and toss my masterpiece directly into the trash, but sometimes I’m actually on to something.

My newest creations are cat and dog toys from discarded clothes and bedding.  What could be better than reducing my trash footprint and feeding my creative outlet?  Not much is what I think.

 

I’m finally using my crafting skills….

I’ve been a crafter all my life since my Mom taught me to knit on an Ottawa to LA cross country flight when I was a kid.  She told me I had to learn to knit to quell my fear of flying.  Of course I went along with it.  I was 5 and didn’t really know what she was talking about.  In hindsight I now realize it was to quell my Mother’s fear of flying, which turned out to be terrific for me, and my creative development at 5.

I instally fell in love with knitting.  It became a lifelong passion, alone with crocheting, embroidery and all forms of fabric making and design.  I even had my own line of hand-knitted clothing post-university.  I would have continued along this path, but I got into technology that I also totally loved, and my ‘crafting’ days were left in the past.

But they are resurfacing now, and I’ll thrilled.  It’s a perfect way to create useful things for cats and dogs.  Being a passionate cat-lover, it all fits so perfectly into my lifestyle.

Starting a Small Business at my Age

Any why not!  I’m healthy, mentally as sharp as ever, and love to create things with my hands.  Making these pet toys just seems to be exactly where I should be at this point in my life.  Not only am I using my crafting skills, I’m combining it with my technical abilities to offer my Happy Cat Pet Enrichmnet Toys on-line so pet lovers around our amazing planet have access to these toys.

My involvement in an animal rescue charity

For the past 5 years I’ve been involved with Lanta Animal Welfare, an animal rescue charity here on Koh Lanta.  I’ve gone from a business analyst, to financial advisor, to now on their Board as their CFO.  I’m so very proud of this charity and how I’ve helped them grow from a floundering grassroots initiative, to a stable, sustainable and highly respected operation.

I have found a way to merge my creative passions with my technical and business expertise.

How good it that?  Dam good I say…m
